Hutchinson Telecommunications Australia (ASX:HTA) subsidiary 3 has reached an agreement which will allow the company to offer 3G roaming on parts of Telstra's (ASX:TLS) upcoming 850MHz network.
Hutchinson also plans to build new infrastructure in areas where roaming is prevalent.
With these initiatives Hutchinson is planning to increase 3's 3G Network coverage - and therefore its potential customer base - to include 96 percent of the population by the second half 2009.
Currently the company only covers 56 percent of the population.
3's 3G network was the first of its kind in Australia, and is shared with Telstra.
