Sensis’s Yellow finds home on Google Maps

Users of Google Maps can search across all local business listings provided by Yellow.

Users of Google Maps will soon be able to find Yellow business listings as part of a deal struck between Google and Sensis.

The Yellow (previously called Yellow Pages) listings are scheduled to be available in the first quarter of the 2009.

“This agreement enables our Yellow advertisers to further extend their online presence and benefit from the significant reach of Google Maps. It's all about helping to deliver more customers through their doors," said Sensis CEO, Bruce Akhurst in a statement.

Sensis will not charge its Yellow customers an additional fee to list on Google Maps, a Sensis spokesperson said.

Google has developed features such as My Maps and Street View for Google Maps. It also has a similar external partnership with TrueLocal that provides listings of companies at a particular address.

Separately Google also announced Monday that will now power the Web searches and sponsored listings on the Sensis homepage, sensis.com.au, and partner sites like bigpond.com. However, searches for Yellow, White Pages and Trading Post on sensis.com.au will continue to be conducted by Sensis.
