Managed service providers Azaleos and M3Technology have merged their operations around remote management of Microsoft Exchange.
The two companies will have network operation centers on the East Coast, where M3 is headquartered, and the West Coast, where Azaleos is located. The centers are located in Charlotte, N.C. and Seattle.
The company will operate under the Azaleos name. Terms of the deal were not announced, but it was a private stock transaction.
Azaleos provides dedicated, on-site appliances that run Exchange messaging and are remotely managed from the vendor's operation center. The company also provides mobile, anti-spyware and malware protection, and disaster recovery services.
As part of the merger, Azaleos, which was founded in 2004, announced a new service called ADXchange, which is a carryover from M3 and provides monitoring and management for Active Directory installed at a customer's site. The Active Directory administration includes directory consolidation, identity management and DNS configuration.
"We thought this was a great opportunity to join forces and do a managed services play for Exchange and unified communications products," said Scott Gode, vice president of product management and marketing for Azaleos. "In one fell swoop we have doubled the size of what each other was doing."
The companies combined now have more than 125 employees and 300 customers.
M3 Technologies was known more for its professional services, while Azaleos has had a stronger presence on the managed services side.
Azaleos said the merged company will be headed by the current Azaleos management team, including founder Keith McCall who serves as CTO. Azaleos plans to retain a majority of the service, support and professional services staff from each organization.
