A new service has been launched in Sydney which promises free telephone calls to 70 international destinations simply by calling a local mobile number.
Callforfree.net.au allows people to dial into a local mobile number then enter the country code and phone number of the international call.
The call to the dedicated mobile number is then transferred to Callforfree.net.au's Sydney data centre and then routed over the Internet using VoIP and terminated in the destination country.
Callforfree.net.au managing director Sat Pal said the service only took three days to set up and already has about 100 users.
"It can scale up to 10,000 users and then we would need to do a big chunk of investment with a telco to expand it which would cost about $500,000," Pal said.
No additional SIM card or phone software is required to use the service.
The customer gets charged their standard local call rate to the dial-in number and from then on the international call is free.
Callforfree.net.au makes money on the margin for call termination charges and there is no time limit on calls; however, not all countries include mobile numbers and most only calls to landlines. For the complete list see this PDF.
"It's ideal for students in Australia wanting to call home cheaply and for people who want to use more of their mobile phone cap allowance," Pal said, adding the call quality equivalent to a standard mobile or landline.
The service is available to all mobile phones on all local carriers except Optus and its resellers TPG and Virgin Mobile.
Telstra, 3 and Vodafone mobile phones can use the service for free and no registration or contracts are required.

Great info, but I am currently using www.freedomcalls.net.au and it works pretty good..
its very simple
vist website name called www.freedesicalls.com so that you will have around 75 countries and choose one of the country you are willing to call and if you dont have area code dont worry go and check in same website you will get areacodes.
the main thing you need to do is use your mobile cap minutes.
this is an example not real for example
suppose if you have 3 mobile cap of 49 dollars
3 mobile will give you credit like
international 100dollars
3to 3 500 mins
and 3 to other mobile 1000 dollars worth of calls and each minute they cut 80 cents that means
you can call freedesicalls number 0424215678 and follow the prompt its just like calling card but without having pin number you can direct dial and get connected to international whenever you want.
its simple
this is long stoy we are using these services from 1 year
i use Freedomcalls.com.au, comfortcalls.com.au , both having differnet numbers and i talk to them personally and they are very good customer caring companies, i have problem while calling to comfortcalls number 0424215048 i send an email to them they call me back and the problem has been fiexd in one hour, what a good customer serivce.
all we need to do is use our local mobile credit and dial the access number 0424215048 and listen the promt its same like calling card but the difference is we are using our mobile cap rather than spendig money in emergencies and if we have good credit everymonth obviously we can call these numbers and connected to interntaional for free if you want o have a look go to www.freedomcalls.com.au or
www.comfortcalls.com.au
Thanks,
i agree
I Agree to what u said above and I use this access number as it gets me through all the time
0424 21 51 30 Freedom Calls.
Nice but not unique
as the other person mentioned earlier, there are many websites offering these services from long time
i guess they all use the same server and same system because when you call any of the mobile numbers either from smartcalling, makefreecalls or callsforfree, you can hear the same person's voice
but anyway i am Smartcalling user as well, that works great for me
try this 0424215151 and you will find the same person speaking everywhere
lets not bag this service
i have use this service personally and call went through , look its a differnet story if you want to promote smartcalling or makefreecalls ...LoL
As you may not have found this site and i think u FUND this site...LOL
Cheers
Ram
nothing new about this one
what a crap service is this one. i tried calling mobile in india but did not go through.
I have been using www.SmartCalling.com.au (0424215151) and www.MakeFreeCalls.com.au and www.FreedomCalls.com.au
they all work great and looks like it is same kind of service you guys have launched. there is nothing new about your service because it has been in the market from last 2 years by www.SmartCalling.com.au
How much do they charge
How much this service cost? I understand the customer pays for the call to the local gateway number. Beside this cost how much the customer pays to Callforfree.net.au on a monthly base? The local cost that the customer pays goes to the local telco. Callforfree.net.au pays for the termination charges. Therefore, they need to get this cost from their customer. You say they make their money on the margin for call termination charges so they need to charge their customer to cover the call termination charges. Neither you nor the Callforfree.net.au mention if their is a monthly fee.
Thx,
ET
NICE WEBSITE BUT NEED MORE DETAILS.
please do give me more details on this as i am interested in making international calls to North America Europe and other parts of the world will this website be good enough or do i need to lookup other such websites to quench my calling thirst.I am interested in a freeware program really which would help me call North America at half rates and not for high costs.
B.P.S.SEKHON
