Communications integrator, NSC Group, has upgraded the Australian National University (ANU) network to the new Avaya Aura architecture. The Aura architecture involves Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)-based open standards and is capable of delivering voice, video, messaging, presence and Web applications. The upgrade gives the university’s 14,000 students the ability to call each other on a unique number, at zero cost
NSC managing director, Craig Neil, said it was the first roll out of its kind globally and “a real shot in the arm for Australian IT”.
“It’s big step up in core routing,” he said. “We had lots of discussions about it and went through it very thoroughly with ANU. They’ve put a lot of their time into this and we will take this a lot further, especially when they connect it to other universities.”
The new architecture is a step up from ANU’s previous Avaya system and was implemented by NSC in partnership with Avaya.
NSC also recently announced the implementation of a speech analytics solution for health insurance company, HCF.
