Motorola this week unveiled its first Android phone for the South Korean market. The phone, called the Motoroi, looks similar to the Motorola Droid handset in the U.S. or the Milestone in Europe but without the slide-out keyboard.
It runs on Android 2.0 and sports a 3.7-inch touchscreen with wide VGA resolution (480 pixels by 854 pixels) that makes it easier to view full-screen Web pages.
The camera offers 8-megapixel resolution and comes with a host of features usually found on dedicated digital cameras such as face detection, red eye reduction, anti-shake and modes for panorama shots and taking six shots rapidly in succession.
It can also record 720p high-definition video and an HDMI connector is included for hooking it up to a high-def TV. The phone is compatible with Korea's terrestrial digital broadcasting service, T-DMB.
Like other Android phones it comes loaded with a host of Google applications that could be useful on-the-go including Maps, Gmail, YouTube and Google Talk instant messaging.
The Motoroi will be available from February through SK Telecom and will be launched in other countries. Motorola didn't announce launch dates for other markets.
