WA Police inks $5M IT services deal

The Western Australian Police service has entered into a $5 million contract with the ASX-listed Empired for strategic IT consulting services.

The contract is a three year term with two one-year options for extensions, and the pricing is based on an expected program of work.

Empired will provide services in the areas of strategic advice and planning, benefits realisation and project delivery assurance.

Empired managing director Russell Baskerville said: “I am extremely pleased that WA Police recognised the value Empired could deliver through our extensive exposure in the WA government sector.”

WA Police represents one of the largest police jurisdictions in the world, with an area covering 2.5 million square kilometres across three regions, 14 districts and 162 police stations. It has some 9000 staff.

“Our enterprise strategy and architecture practice has been built on the back of acquiring Quadrant Group in late 2007 [and] securing this contract with WA Police is testament to Empired’s ability to acquire, integrate and extend these services,” Baskerville said.

Perth-based Empired has seen recent success with government IT services contracts, including an $11.6 million contract with Main Roads WA and another with the Victorian state government’s Department for Education and Early Childhood Development.
