Desktop management and virtualization software company Citrix has purchased IT-asset-monitoring service provider Paglo for an undisclosed amount, the two companies announced Wednesday.
The deal closed in January.
Citrix plans to fold Paglo's services into its own Citrix Online remote support and IT management services, under the new name GoToManage, according to Elizabeth Cholawsky, Citrix vice president for product services.
GoToManage will be an adjunct to Citrix Online's GoToAssist, software that allows administrators to remotely log into and troubleshoot desktop computers.
"We saw an adjacent market to remote support that was very interesting to us," Cholawsky said, noting that a recent customer survey had found that 66 percent of Citrix Online users wanted monitoring services. "We decided that having capabilities for us in that arena would be a great strategic move for Citrix Online."
Paglo offers inventory management capabilities as a service. A crawler with log-in credentials collects performance and configuration information about the servers, routers and desktop computers on a network, conveying the data to Paglo's data center.
Users can then log into a Web portal to find the information aggregated and summarized in various forms, said Brian de Haaff, who was the CEO of Paglo.
Paglo also has a number of other technologies, including software for managing VMware virtual machines.
Cholawsky promised that current Paglo customers would see no disruption in service.
