In order to expand its stack of cloud enabling software, VMware is acquiring two software companies, the virtualization software vendor announced Tuesday.
One company is performance analytics specialist Integrien, and the other is federated-access-management software provider TriCipher.
VMware, which announced the pending acquisitions at its VMworld conference taking place this week in San Francisco, did not disclose financial details of the transactions. The company plans to complete the acquisitions by the end of September.
The products from both companies can be used as part of a stack for hosting SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) applications, executives said.
Integrien's real-time performance analytics software, called [Alive], can be combined with Vmware's vCenter virtualization products, allowing organizations to derive performance summaries of their infrastructure and virtualized applications.
TriCipher's [software] will provide VMware infrastructure with a single set of authentication and security controls that can be used to bridge public and private clouds.
The acquisitions were one of a number of announcements that VMware made at the conference. The company also unveiled a new set of software for managing large cloud deployments, called [vCloud Director], as well as a cloud computing platform [] based on its Java Spring framework.
