Netcomm crosses Tasman for mobile broadband

After flagging intentions to invest in 3G gateway technologies, NetComm (ASX:NTC) has entered into a deal with Telecom New Zealand (ASX:TEL) for the supply of a mobile broadband gateway for the telco's customers.

In a statement to the ASX, NetComm managing director, David Stewart, said the agreement would see the delivery of fast 3G gateway speeds to New Zealand homes and businesses.

According to Stewart, the partnership will “secure” Telecom NZ’s place in 3G technology by highlighting the coverage and speeds of its XT network.

In June, the networking hardware vendor predicted a bullish 18 months ahead, noting that the investment in the development of 3G gateway technology and international expansion in 2009 and 2010 would see revenues grow from 22.9 million in the first half of 2010 to between 33.9 and 39.3 million in the second half of 2010.

The partnership follows NetComm’s expansion into North America with the signing of Canadian company, Roger Communications in July this year.
