BonitaSoft updates open source BPM suite

BonitaSoft's Bonita Open Solution, an open source Business Process Management (BPM) suite
French software company BonitaSoft has released version 5.5 of its Bonita Open Solution, an open source Business Process Management (BPM) suite, adding more development and testing tools.
New features in 5.5 include an integrated content repository to enable document management within processes, including an implementation of the xCMIS content management interoperability specification (CMIS) from eXo.
Business rules has been enhanced to include decision tables allowing users to define business rules without relying on an external system or having to hard code it, according to the company. The Drools business rules engine connector is also available.

Bonita Studio now has a new debugger which gives developers the option of not using connectors with external systems.
BonitaSoft CEO Miguel Valdés Faura said the 5.5 release takes Bonita Open Solution to the next level in terms of maturity and flexibility and provides the ability to easily create more powerful, custom-built BPM applications.
Other improvements in the 5.5 release include more advanced download bundles, improved collaboration features, complex forms building, enhanced support of the business process modelling notation (BPMN) 2.0 standard notation and better performance.
BonitaSoft claims some 5500 community users and 150 customers. The company also announced a plug-in for to eXo Platform for Bonita enabling more advanced content management and social and collaboration features.
Bonita BPM is developed in Java and licensed under the GPL.
