LulzSec harvests Aussie emails, passwords

Leaked list contains addresses of Australian government departments, universities

Fresh from attacking the CIA's CIO.gov website with a denial of service (DOS) attack, hacker group LulzSec has struck again with a leaked list of 62,000 email addresses and passwords, including some harvested from Australian organisations.

According to the ABC, the leaked email addresses and passwords included those from AusAid, Victorian Government departments, local councils in Victoria and New South Wales, the Australian National University, the University of New South Wales and the University of Queensland. Two high schools in Queensland and Melbourne were also believed to be in the list, which was released by Dazzle Pod

"These are random assortments from a collection," LulzSec said in a statement.

"So don't ask which site they're from or how old they are, because we have no idea.

"We also can't confirm what percentage still work, but be creative or something.

"Enjoy, and remember: Lulz Security always delivers."

The email leak follows a number of other high profile LulzSec DOS attacks and infiltrations, including hacking into a US cyber security company, the publication of data obtained from servers belonging to the US Senate, and infiltration of the network of game publisher Bethesda.

The group has also established a US-based hotline, which has been periodically redirected to other numbers, including the FBI and US security firm HBGary, according to the @LulzSec Twitter account.
