Mobile services solutions provider eServGlobal (ASX:ESV) has announced that Philippine mobile operator Smart will link up to its HomeSend global funds transfer hub.
The contract will initially allow for mobile transfers between Smart subscribers and people in Belgium, Qatar and the UK, the company announced. The deal will eventually be expanded to other Middle Eastern countries and the US.
Transfers will take place through Smart's mobile wallet service, Smart Money, developed with the local BDO Unibank.
The HomeSend platform was developed by eServGlobal and partner BICS, a Belgium-based provider of mobile financial and other telecom services.
As well as cash, other types of funds including mobile airtime credit can be transferred, and the system supports fund sources including bank accounts, credit cards, cash and some eWallets.
eServGlobal said the Philippines government receives over $20 billion in international remittance each year, making it one of the top remittance receiving countries in the world.
ESV shares stayed flat on Friday at $0.795.
