The options available can become overbearing and confusing. The following description of how to convert your PowerPoint document to a video, is simple and also supplies you with a PowerPoint hosting service.
A PowerPoint hosting service is a database where you can upload your document and it is converted to a MPEG4 video, better known as a mp4. From there, you can share your video with specific people or with any and everyone.

Before you begin this process, you will have to register an account at a Power Point hosting service. The one recommended for this step by step guide is Author Stream. Author Stream is free and you can sign up on the website.
This hosting service allows you to share your videos with whomever you want and you can even create a channel for your own work.
After signing up, you can follow the steps below and start converting your PowerPoint presentations:
- Open your PowerPoint presentation and look at the top menu bar. You will see Home, Insert, Design, Animation and then Slide Show. Select the Slide Show option and let this option’s sub-menu open below it.
- Now, you can choose two options. If you want to create a silent PowerPoint video, select the Rehearse Timings option. If your PowerPoint document has sound, select the Record Narration. This second option allows you to record as you flip through the slides. Remember: Always save the changes as you go to a new slide when using the Record Narration option. This (see image) is what your menu bar at the top of the window looks like, just so that you have a visual aid as well.
- Next, you will go to Author Steam and log into your account. Upload your PowerPoint document and let the website do the work for you. The upload limit per file is I Gig, so that is quite big. Furthermore, this process of converting your PowerPoint document to an mp4 will take some time. Luckily you don’t have to wait around. You can upload the file and convert it. Log out and you will receive an email when the conversion is done.
- When your video is ready, you can log into your account and download your high quality video.
There is also software available that does this conversion for you. This includes Smart Soft and 4 Media PPT to Video Converter. These kinds of software will cost you anywhere from $40 to $100, depending on the type of software you want.
Before you buy, there are free trials available, so test out as many products as you want to before making a commitment. As always, only download from a trustworthy site and make sure that that antivirus of yours is up to date.
