Kogan releases new Android tablets

Budget online retailer launches cut-price tablets

Australian online retailer Kogan Technologies has launched two new Android-based tablets. The Kogan Agora 8” Tablet and Kogan Agora 10” Tablet join the, Kogan Agora 7" Tablet, which was launched [[artnid: 383246|earlier this year] and according to the retailer sold out multiple production runs.

The 8-inch Agora 8" Tablet and the 10-inch Agora 10" Tablet both have capacitive touchscreens, microSD slots for expandable storage (as well as 4GB of internal flash memory), 512MB of RAM, HDMI out ports, 2-megapixel front-facing cameras, and 802.11b/g Wi-Fi.

The smaller tablet has a resolution of 800x600 pixels, while the larger device has 1024x768 pixels.

The tablets both run Android 2.3 and are powered by 1GHz Cortex A8 processors; ARM's Cortex A8 was originally unveiled in 2005 and a 600MHz version powered the third-generation iPhone, the iPhone 3GS.

The Kogan Agora 8” Tablet is priced at $229, while the 10inch tablet will cost $269. However, Kogan's LivePrice system, launched earlier this year in Australia, means both tablets can be pre-ordered for less.
