A/NZ software companies awarded for innovation

Australian and New Zealand software companies were honoured in Sydney at the 12th annual Consensus Software Awards. The awards are supported by Austrade, New Zealand Trade & Enterprise, Australian Computer Society (ACS) and New Zealand Computer Society, TiE and Alinement Network. Wholesale Investor are Media Partners, and were presented by Malcolm Turnbull, the shadow minister for communications and broadband.

Judging criteria for the awards is performance-based. Some 27 industry experts judge each product on its merits and can confer as many awards as they wish.

“Our judges expressed great satisfaction with not only the quality of the products, but also the professionalism of each presenting finalist,” said Julian Day, founder & CEO of Consensus Group.

“Our continued practice of offering targeted support services to winners and finalists alike, to help them better exploit their opportunities and reach their potential, has added real value and real substance to these awards. We provide assistance and introductions to venture capital, marketing services, industry development and a network of excellent contacts,” he said.

Some eight finalists from across Australia and New Zealand were in attendance, for four awards and four commendations.

“The quality of awards never ceases to impress the judges and they had a hard time determining the final winners out of a strong number of finalists,” said Patrick Wilson, speaking on behalf of the independent panel of judges. “We recognise a diverse range of individuals and companies who have, through consensus by the judges, met all three criteria of ‘innovation, performance and potential’, and who typify why so many Consensus judges come back year after year to see just how good Australian and New Zealand software really can be.”

“Consensus continues to recognise and develop the local software development industry. There are many examples where doors have been opened on the back of winning an Award,” Turnbull said.
