DFHCSIA seeks partner for sale of unneeded and outdated gear

The Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs is seeking tenders for a partner to dispose of surplus ICT assets, including desktops PCs, printers, servers, mobile phones and other telecommunications gear.

In the past 12 months the department has disposed of 3307 individual ICT assets, including dozens of CRT monitors, 64 servers, 1112 desktop PCs, 440 laptops and two typewriters, label printers, multifunction devices, and data projectors.

The department has gone to tender for ICT recycling services as well as refurbishment and sale where appropriate (at a net return for the department, inclusive of costs) of surplus assets in all capital cities, as well as a number of regional offices.

According to department documents, the successful tenderer will be required to have ISO 14001 environmental management and environmental protection authority accreditation, and must have a landfill diversion program that includes a diversion success rate of 95 per cent from landfill. Disposal of assets must comply with the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999.

The department is seeking to enter the arrangement for three years, but has flagged the possible extension by up to two further years.
