The window for design firms to spit out flashy iPad 3 concepts is closing now that Apple has announced plans for an iPad event on March 7, but here’s one late entry that’s fun to ponder.
SCUTTLEBUTT: iPad 3 rumor roundup for week of Feb. 28
ROUNDUP: Hottest iPad 3 design concepts
San Francisco’s Aatma Studio, which specializes in 3d animation and digital content, shares its vision for an iPad 3 that boasts an edge-to-edge Retina Display and makes use of near-field communications (NFC) and internal magnets to connect and communicate between iPads. What’s more, this futuristic tablet would support 3D multiplayer hologram-based games, such as the football game shown in the video.
We’ve collected some of the most colorful and intriguing iPad 3 design concepts previously, but this Aatma Studio presentation is probably the most elaborately imagined to date.
It's been about a year since Apple showed off its market-leading iPad 2, and the new iteration -- whatever it is formally called -- is expected to boast a 2048-by-1536-pixel Retina Display with better resolution than the current screen, a more powerful processor (maybe a quad-core A6), a better camera (8mp), bigger battery and possibly support for 4G LTE networks.
