Brisbane-based games developers Halfbrick Studios has scored a 2012 Apple Design Award for its iPhone game Jetpack Joyride. The award was announced at Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC).
Halfbrick, which also developed the hit iOS and Android game Fruit Ninja, shared the iPhone Developer Showcase win with Where's My Water by Disney and National Parks by National Geographic, released by the National Geographic Society.
JetPack Joyride, which is also available through Facebook, was released last year. The app has a four and a half star rating in the Apple iTunes App Store.
The game has been downloaded more than 25 million times since launch.
"It's a huge honour," Halfbrick chief marketing officer, Phil Larsen, said in a statement.
Just weeks ago we celebrated the two year anniversary of Fruit Ninja with a national street tour.
"To win this design award is something our entire team will be celebrating in our Brisbane headquarters. It's a prestigious award they've been giving out since 1997 and one we're very proud to win."
