Family Court seeks network refresh

The Family Court of Australia wants to replace ageing network equipment nationally, and build and fit a new design, according to a tender published 13 July.

The Family Court is looking for network routers and switches including datacentre switches, access switches and aggregation switches. The court plans to roll out the new equipment late 2012.

“The Court is considering two different options for campus networks,” either 1Gb or 10Gb Ethernet inter-switch connections. “Tenderers must respond to both options although they are exclusive per location,” the court said.

The court wants to enter a deed of standing offer of three years with the successfully tenderer, with an option to extend the contract for two additional 12-month periods, it said.

The court currently hast two data centres and a dedicated Internet gateway connected with dark fibre, it said. It has 150 Ethernet switches and 23 routers managed by the court.
