TIO Stadium in the Northern Territory has installed a $300,000 scoreboard with Wi-Fi on board. AFL fans can see it for themselves at the game this week weekend between Melbourne and Port Adelaide.
The 40sqm scoreboard can do instant replay, live feed and free-to-air TV coverage. “The scoreboard is made up of 42 LED screens and has a viewing angle of 150 degrees horizontal and 60 degrees vertical – it can be used for AFL, Cricket, NRL and football games,” said the NT's Chief Minister, Paul Henderson.
“It is designed so it can be viewed in the bright Territory sunlight and is operated wirelessly from anywhere at the ground,” Henderson said. The scoreboard is similar to those at Bellerive Oval and at the Aurora Stadium in Hobart, he said.
The project was art of the NTG’s 2030 strategic plan “to ensure Territorians have access to a wide range of facilities and activities that enhance the great Territory lifestyle,” Henderson said.
