NBN business plans heat up with 'enhancements'

NBN Co has announced its first business-focused enhancement for NBN for Business, with four RSPs pegged to offer business services on the National Broadband Network (NBN) so far.

NBN for Business will allow businesses to run up to 50 voice services and a one-hour response time to incidents.

Further enhancements to the business offering will be extended to medium and large enterprises in the future.

“This is the first step in a long journey on our product roadmap. There will be other product releases and it’s our intention to provide further upgrades aimed at business and extended support over time,” NBN Co told Computerworld Australia.

Internode, iiNet, M2/iPrimus and Macquarie Telecom will be some of the first RSPs to offer business-specific services on the NBN.

Internode told Computerworld Australia it plans to keep offering its business fibre broadband plans, ranging from 12/1Mbps to 100/40Mbps on four data plans – 30GB, 300GB, 600GB and 1TB. Plans start at $79.95 and go up to $194.95 per month.

“For the moment we'll keep running with [our] business plans and simply add in the new NBN-enhanced service level,” said Jim Kellett, product manager at Internode.

“The new VoIP capacities mean that companies can go with either approach for their VoIP solution – either cloud-hosted IP voice or having an IP-PBX on-site. It's our intention to support both approaches.

“The pricing and specifics will generally be determined on a case-by-case basis at this early stage of the game.”

Macquarie Telecom told Computerworld Australia in August this year that it was still finalising details of its business plans and would be announcing its business plans in October.

Meanwhile, iiNet is offering all four speeds on the NBN, with 40GB, 200GB and 1TB plans from $79.95 per month to $129.95 and iPrimus, which already has residential NBN plans, yet to officially release business NBN business plans.
