Apple's iPhone 5 'Lightning' adapters will retail for $35 and $45, not available until October

Apple's decision to update the dock connector on the iPhone 5 was widely rumoured in the months leading up to the launch. While the change comes as no surprise, many expected Apple to include an adapter in the box. That isn't the case.

Apple's Lightning to 30-pin adapter ($35)

For older accessories that use the traditional 30-pin plug, Apple will sell a lightning adapter as an optional accessory. In Australia it will cost you $35 for a regular Lightning to 30-pin adapter or $45 for a Lighting to 30-pin adapter with a 0.2m cord — you'll need the latter if you want to connect the iPhone 5 to a dock that uses the older 30-pin connector port.

Interestingly, these new adapters won't be available until October according to Apple's Australian Web site. So if you own a heap of iPhone accessories and were planning to use them with your shiny new iPhone 5 next week, you'll have to wait a little longer.
