Symbio Networks will invest $3 million over three years to extend its number porting and other telephony services into regional Australia.
Symbio is a subsidiary of MyNetFone and sells wholesale services including number porting in the cloud, 1300/1800 number services, IP transit and business data services. The company currently covers 19 of Telstra’s call collection areas. After the investment announced today, the company will serve all 66 areas, it said.
Symbio expects to connect to all 66 call collection areas by the end of the year, MyNetFone CEO Rene Sugo said in a statement. It will roll out new wholesale product features over the following six months, he said.
The expansion means that Symbio will offer service in remote areas of Australia, including new NBN areas as they are turned on, the company said. That will let Symbio wholesale customers switch their business and residential end users to NBN while keeping their existing phone number, it said.
“This investment proves our commitment to improving communications accessibility for regional areas,” MyNetFone CEO Rene Sugo said in a statement.
“The MyNetFone Group will further enhance Australia’s largest VoIP network with infrastructure-enabled services running on a more diverse and redundant network for carriers,” he said.
