Cheaper Foxtel unveiled for Telstra bundlers

Telstra will provide discounted Foxtel pay TV for customers who bundle it with phone and Internet service.

The 10 per cent monthly discount is available to any customer with a T-Bundle connector plan, Telstra said. The discount applies across any combination of Foxtel and Telstra services and to multi-room subscription charges, it said.

Customers already bundling Foxtel with phone and Internet will have the discount automatically applied to their monthly bill.

The deal does not apply to Foxtel on Xbox 360, Foxtel on T-Box or Foxtel on Internet TV, a Telstra spokesman said.

Because of the new offer, Telstra will stop selling its T-Bundle entertainer package, it said. Existing customers can keep the bundle.

The move comes as telcos seek to differentiate their packages ahead of the NBN rollout. With all telcos offering essentially the same fibre service, it’s expected there will be more emphasis on what else is in the package.

With more choice for customers through the National Broadband Network (NBN), “competition will be about differentiation,” Optus regulatory affairs vice president, David Epstein, said at the Australian Communications Consumer Action Network (ACCAN) conference in September.
