Mobile 4G technology company Adaptix has filed a patent complaint related to wireless base stations against Ericsson at the U.S. International Trade Commission.
Adaptix filed a so-called section 337 complaint against Ericsson, according to USITC documents. In a section 337 complaint, the complaining company typically asks the agency to bar products infringing patents from being imported into the U.S.
The USITC has not released details about the patent complaint. An Ericsson representative declined to comment on the complaint, and Adaptix didn't immediately respond to a request for comments.
Acacia Research, a large patent-holding firm, purchased Adaptix and its 4G patents for US$160 million a year ago.
Adaptix owns three U.S. patents related to wireless base stations. One is for a method for optimizing a communication system base station for wireless communications at a particular location; the second is for a method for adding a new base station to a wireless communication network.
The third is for a method for performing handoff in a wireless network at a base station.
