Securifi seeks donations for touch Wi-Fi router

A Taiwanese company making a touchscreen WiFi router is seeking donations through Kickstarter to bring the device Down Under.

The Almond+ router by Securifi combines a 802.11ac wireless router with a touch-based smart-home interface. Using an iOS or Android app, users can access their home network from anywhere. For example, to control lights and heating or to monitor home security.

The company reached its initial goal of raising US$250,000 to make the device, but said bringing it to the Asia-Pacific market will require more money to make it compatible with the local frequency band for Z-Wave (919.82/921.42MHz).

Securifi said it would produce the version for Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong if it gets at least 500 backers. The company had 221 backers for the version as of this writing.
