Touch my screen and die

I've tried a number of techniques over the years to try and stop people from touching my screens, most of which have been unsuccessful. Why do people think it's ok to touch screens?

I don't understand the fascination that people have with touching screens. There isn't a single touch screen in the whole office. Pressing greasy fingers against my screen is not going to do anything except for making me angry. If you want to point to a particular area of my screen, you could choose to stop your finger a centimeter before it touches my screen. That's not really going to make a difference. If you _really_ have to point at something with millimeter accuracy, use the mouse! That's what it's there for. You use it to point at things.

Even sending people a link to Jeff Atwood's mental image of people who touch screens isn't enough to make people get it.

Note to suits: offering to clean my screen with your tie isn't going to help either.

All I need now is a packet of cotton finger gloves. Whenever one of the serial offenders comes over to my desk, I'll just give them a glove and make them wear it until they leave. Just in case. It's better to be safe than sorry right? Maybe thinkgeek should sell them?
