ASP.NET 4 24-Hour Trainer

This book and accompanying videos will deliver real world ASP.NET training to beginners of the .NET platform and Visual Studio 2010. The technical content will be at the beginner level primarily - though the authors' focus on best practices should also appeal to intermediate developers.

Lessons will provide step-by-step guidance for successfully handling the most common tasks faced by beginning ASP.NET developers.  It will also cover areas that the authors have found to be difficult or problematic for developers.

Content will range from a basic coverage of the fundamentals of the ASP.NET platform, and then move into the core tutorial, covering:

  • Accessing and Displaying Data
  • Managing data.
  • Creating and laying out Web pages.
  • Navigation.
  • AJAX and Client Programming
  • Security
  • Best practices for improved performance
  • Deployment

For each of these areas, the authors will demonstrate techniques using both MVC and WebForms, and provide guidance as to the tradeoffs of the two approaches.

Each lesson will be accompanied by a video which will contain screencasts of the authors as they work through each lesson, which will not only reinforce the content of the book but also add additional explanation and tips as well as showing exactly how the lesson goals can be achieved.
