As we take our annual look at the year in the cool and the wacky we find a ton of high-tech goodness, from the 300,000 virtual Android-based device network being constructed by the Sandia National Laboratory to the Kansas City program that looks to give interested entrepreneurial-types free room and board to access Google's ultra-fast fiber network.
