Alcatel integrating network layers for efficiency
Alcatel-Lucent on Wednesday set a course for tighter integration of the two main components of long-haul service-provider networks, saying it will help carriers streamline their infrastructure and run it more efficiently.

IP router sales to service providers still strong
IP routers used by network service providers sold well globally in the second quarter this year, with sales up 40 percent over the second quarter of 2007, and advancing 17 percent from the first quarter of 2008, according to Infonetics Research.
