Perth to Singapore submarine cable to be ready by 2013: ASSC-1
A new optic fibre submarine cable system which will link Perth with Singapore is expected to have a capacity of 6.4 terabits (Tbps) per second when it is completed in 2013.

Leighton spins off submarine project, signs Alcatel-Lucent
Leighton Contractors (ASX:LEI) has pushed forward with plans to build a new submarine cable link between Perth and Singapore, with plans to have the cable operational and feeding up to 16 terabits per second (Tbps) of capacity by 2013.

International bandwidth demand grows as Japan stays online
The latest report from international bandwidth market analyst firm TeleGeography has found a spike in investment into international submarine cable systems this year, but building redundancy into the networks remains the biggest challenge to cable operators.
