Former AGL CIO and ‘CIO of the Year’ Cesare Tizi to lead Gentrack business in Australia

<p>Melbourne, May 2008 – Cesare Tizi, former CIO of utility giant AGL, has been appointed to drive Gentrack business growth in Australia.</p>

<p>Cesare Tizi’s career spans 17 years leading and working in some of Australia’s most successful Tier 1 organisations, including AGL, successfully leading technology specialists to transform business capabilities and performance. He says his new challenge lies in applying this experience from a vendor perspective to engage the delivery of innovative utility billing and customer management solutions.</p>
<p>Mr Tizi added: “Australia has a depth of local technology companies that deliver real value to utility organisations. I have always admired these businesses that consistently demonstrate their tenacity and easily deliver as much value as the larger US and European vendors.</p>
<p>Gentrack is one such company that really caught my attention. Having spent time with the owners of the business and fully understanding the values and potential of its people and solutions, I liked what I saw and heard and accepted the challenge to move into private enterprise.”</p>
<p>Mr Tizi spent four years as CIO at AGL where he was acknowledged as ‘CIO of the Year 2006’ by MIS Magazine and again in 2007 by ZDNet - appropriate accolades for years of success driving multi-million dollar technology projects within Fortune 500 and Top 50 ASX listed companies such as Motorola, Transurban and the Australian Wool Corporation. He says his success is derived from a passion that lies in the challenge to understand and bring together people and technology to achieve a common outcome, exceptional results and notable return on investment.</p>

<p>The Gentrack team, based in St Kilda Road, Melbourne, and now led by Mr Tizi, currently develops and supports software solutions throughout Australia for blue chip utility customers such as Alinta, Origin Energy, ActewAGL, Northern Territory Power and Water, Aurora Energy, Red Energy. The deployment of advanced metering and proposed shakeup in the NSW energy market is expected to bring further significant opportunities to Gentrack as the latest version is released to support a utility’s full meter-to-cash processes, including meter data management, extended workflow automation, and SOA for real enterprise and market integration flexibility.</p>
