Online film to expose what's killing you

Aussie film-makers and nutritionists launch health and well-being doco online

A nutrition and natural healing film made and funded by independent Australian film-makers and nutritionists was launched over the weekend, and is being offered online via pay-per-view by video streaming company Vividas.

The film, titled Food Matters, is a documentary aiming to inform viewers on the best choices they can make for their personal and family's health and well-being.

"In this day and age with so many companies interested in profiting from your misfortune and ill health this film will help keep your money in your pocket and your health in your hands," claims the film's Web site.

"We invite you to join the world's leading authorities on nutrition and natural healing as they uncover the true cause of disease. Find out what really works, what doesn't and what's killing you. Becoming informed about the choices you have for your health and well-being can save your life."

The film can be viewed within any Internet browser, but currently does not work on Macs. A minimum Internet connection speed of 256-kbps is required to view the film online.

Vividas' streaming technology allows viewers to watch the film without having to install any additional programs or download any files to their computer.

"Intelligence embedded in the web page (from which the video is launched) detects what files are needed to playback video on each computer. The browser requests these files from the server, and the files are sent to the PC and run within the browser, without the user having to install the files or to intervene in the process," said a Vividas spokesperson.

"The files sent are very small, fast to transfer and usually nothing is installed or added to the user's system."

Once a viewer pays for the film they can view it once, with their progress tracked at the back end allowing them to stop and recommence at a later time.

Food Matters is also available on DVD.
