• 23 July, 2008 19:50

HP ProCurve Networking has announced that the World Cyber Games (WCG) will use a HP Procurve network solution to support the intense, real-time and demanding competitive environment of the WCG Singapore Finals and Asian Championship.

WCG is the premier, global video game tournament, supported by millions of gaming professionals, enthusiasts and fans worldwide. The Singapore Finals and Asian Championship will be held in Singapore from 7 to 10 August. Countries competing in the Asia Pacific championship include Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, and India.

Gurkirat Singh, Country Manager South Pacific for HP ProCurve commented, “The World Cyber Games is the ultimate performance challenge, for both gamers and the network. The network needs to be rock solid, and able to handle complex security threats, while delivering ultra high levels of performance. This is the fourth year in a row that HP ProCurve has been the network provider to the World Cyber Games.”

A ProCurve 8212zl core switch lies at the heart of the WCG network. The network has been designed to support 1000 highly competitive cyber gamers, and deliver the highest possible levels of performance with minimal latency. Modern gaming places extremely complex demands on a network, so the solution has been designed to support high performance streaming of video and audio, VoIP, intrusion security, and Quality of Service.

HP ProCurve will also deliver a trusted network infrastructure based on its ProActive Defense solution. With this solution, the WCG network will be protected from threats, and safeguard data and users’ integrity. In addition it will also be defended from virus and worm attacks through ProCurve Network Immunity Manager and HP-developed Virus Throttling technology.
