Telstra demonstrates Australia's 3D TV

The display has been installed at Telstra's new Executive Briefing Centre, and will feature content developed by PDM

Australia's first three-dimensional display is now open for viewing at Telstra's (ASX:TLS) new Executive Briefing Centre in Melbourne, which was launched Wednesday.

The display allows observers to view 3D images without the use of special glasses or goggles. It uses a flat-panel display and greatly resembles a standard plasma TV.

It will mainly feature Telstra CEO Sol Trujillo explaining Telstra's 'Next Dimension Working' marketing concept, but will also feature custom-designed 3D advertising. The advertisements will be for Telstra products, and have been designed by Telstra partner Prime Digital Media (PDM).

The commercial use of 3D technology and 3D content to create attention-grabbing digital signage has great potential for Telstra's enterprise and government customers," said Telstra's executive director of convergent sales, Paul Geason.

Telstra recently unveiled Australia's first live interactive hologram in a related marketing effort.
