Cirrus acquires another rival ISP

The purchase of Unisky marks the company's fifth acquisition in just over 12 months.

Regional ISP Cirrus Communications has acquired another competitor, the wireless provider Unisky.

This is Cirrus' fifth acquisition in little over a year, following on from acquisitions of WireFree, CommsLogic, LISP and a division of Chariot Internet.

All were regional providers struggling to turn a profit despite extensive subsidy schemes from the current and previous federal governments.

To date, around $500 million has been allocated by successive Governments in a bid to improve regional internet services.
