<p>Secure Computing STAMP Initiative
Based on extensive customer experience, a commissioned study from IDC focused on determining how companies are responding to messaging use, and global threat data from TrustedSource.org, Secure Computing has identified the core security components and architecture necessary to effectively combat spam, data leakage and blended threats. The company’s objective is to leverage its security expertise and ongoing research to help businesses implement a proactive security architecture that can protect their environments as existing messaging threats increase and new threats arise.</p>
<p>“Our recent survey carried out in the US looked at North American organisations, and the findings that organisations are not doing enough to stay safe can also be carried across to Australia organisations,” said Eric Krieger, Country Manager for Secure Computing in Australia. “Unfortunately there is a reliance on last generation solutions from multiple vendors to fight organised and at times unknown cyber criminals. Even in these challenging economic times, the study shows that managers need to recognise the importance of email security and organisations are willing to invest in new solutions. The STAMP initiative provides information and resources that help organisations understand the evolving threat environment and take steps to proactively protect themselves.”</p>
<p>The survey found that while inbound threats have evolved, only a small portion of organisations are well protected. Unfortunately, 60 percent of organisations were found to be performing dismally and allowing more than 5 percent of email spam into the network. Additionally, nearly half of organisations suffered email data leaks, and while most organisations were very concerned about this, only 28 percent have taken steps to alleviate risk. Finally, the survey discovered that organisations are looking for better ways of delivering email security, and over half of the respondents believed that a hybrid solution approach would deliver the best email security for both inbound and outbound threats.</p>

<p>6. A hybrid security application delivery architecture, enabling choice or mix of on-premise, hosted and virtualised solutions for greater business agility and flexibility;</p>
<p>7. Enterprise-ready, best-of-breed solution approach, combining scalability with stability, ease of administration and robust reporting capabilities to maximise and prove ROI to management.</p>
<p>Solutions for a Secure Next-Generation Mail Environment
The STAMP initiative has been driving Secure Computing’s next-generation messaging gateway appliance development. And in conjunction with the launch, the company is announcing Secure Mail 6.7.1. Highlights of the new version of Secure Mail include:</p>
<p>1) Unprecedented inbound mail protection – Secure Mail 6.7.1 delivers guaranteed inbound mail protection. Not only does 6.7.1 guarantee 99 percent spam detection accuracy, but Secure Mail’s best practice configurations employ real-time dynamic spam classifier and threat response updates that take advantage of the TrustedSource multi-protocol reputation ratings. Secure Mail 6.7.1 boosts scalability by offering 200 percent performance improvement over previous versions of Secure Mail.
