Internet job ad slump stagnates

Analyst says rate of job ad decline decreasing and recruitment market is stabilising

A monthly survey of job ads shows that IT jobs ads are dropping faster than the national average, with a fall of 1.9 per cent in June.

The Olivier Job Index reports that IT job ads are down 56.5 per cent from the same time last year, worse than the national average which fell only 0.85 per cent in June and 51 percent for the year.

Olivier Group director, Robert Olivier, says the rate of decline is decreasing and the recruitment market is stabilising.

“It will take a few more months to know whether we're in recovery, or if there's more bad news to come," Olivier said.

Last month New South Wales reversed the national trend by posting an increase in job ads of 3.4 per cent.
