AAPT chalks up new Telstra wholesale deal

AAPT can now continue to supply its customers with Telstra services

Telstra Wholesale and AAPT have reached commercial agreement on a range of products and services from Telstra’s network of offerings, enabling AAPT, along with Telstra to “get on with business”.

The agreement extends the initial relationship forged between the companies 18-years-ago.

The services that are part of the deal include Telstra’s Wholesale Line Rental (WLR), which allows companies to rent a Telstra line and on-sell the service to their customers, the Local Carriage Service (LCS), which enables AAPT to re-sell Telstra’s local call service and PSTN Originating Terminating Access (PSTN OTA), which allows greater fusion between the two parties' exchange networks.

Managing director of Telstra’s Wholesale Group, Paul Geason, said both parties were keen to reach a deal and get on with business.

"This agreement clearly demonstrates that Telstra Wholesale is eager and willing to work with its customers to achieve commercial results for all parties,” Geason said. “We have an ongoing commitment to serving AAPT and helping them to deliver quality services to their end-users all over Australia."

AAPT CEO Paul Broad said Telstra and AAPT had developed a pragmatic commercial relationship over the years.

"We have reached an agreement which enables AAPT to continue offering competitively-priced, innovative products and services to our customers," Broad said.

The announcement has come two weeks after the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC)denied Telstra’s attempt to prevent competitors from utilising their copper networks.
