gotalk declares VoIP war

IN BRIEF: Aggressive Trans Tasman full service/broadband/VoIP telco gotalk today launched another salvo in the current escalating VoIP price war – hotly disputing competitor Engin’s claim to have “the best offer on the market”. Announcing a range of “improved” VoIP plans today, a confident gotalk CEO Steve Picton said his new plans “will persuade thousands of customers to change service providers.” “We believe our combination of market leading monthly included calling allowances and low calling rates, plus the fact that gotalk customers will no longer have their service suspended if calling inclusions are exceeded, makes gotalk’s VoIP plans virtually unbeatable,” CEO Steve Picton said today.
PRESS RELEASE: Sydney October 18:
gotalk Revs Up The Competition With Its Best VoIP Plans Yet

• gotalk announces a range of improved VoIP plans designed to deliver even more value for money in the increasingly competitive VoIP market for local, national and international calls and calls to Aussie mobiles.
• Building on the success of its market leading Aussie Pack and Aussie & World Pack VoIP plans, gotalk’s innovative changes to its strong VoIP plans today will enable customers to keep calling even if they exceed their monthly calling allowances. From today, those extra calls will be charged at some of the lowest rates in the industry where previously these plans were suspended so no further calls could be made until the next billing period started.

(Visit www.gotalk.com.au for more information or call PR Terry Quinn 0439 710 418 or gotalk CEO Steve Picton on 0416 269 177.)

Steve Picton, CEO of fast growing full service/broadband/VoIP telco gotalk today fired another attack in a VoIP price war which he believes will persuade thousands of customers to change service providers.

“We believe this innovative change to our strong VoIP plans will attract even more customers to gotalk, who seek the best calling rates in the VoIP market. We believe our combination of market leading monthly included calling allowances and low calling rates, together with no longer having their service suspended if calling inclusions are exceeded, are virtually unbeatable,” CEO Steve Picton said today.

Based on customer feedback, gotalk has changed its family of Aussie Pack and World Pack plans, so that if customers exceed their monthly calling allowances, calls can now continue to be made at some of the lowest rates across the industry.

When comparing gotalk’s low VoIP rates to Engin, gotalk charges only 9.9c per call for local / national calls of up to 2 hours made in excess of included calling allowances on all its family of Aussie Packs, whereas Engin charge more than 50% more (15c per call) in their much trumpeted and newly released “Max” plan for calls above their included calling allowance.

gotalk charges only 19.9c per minute for calls to Aussie mobiles when the included calling allowance is exceeded, while the Engin “Max” plan charges 27c per minute or 35% higher rates for calls in excess of their included calling allowance.

In addition to much lower calling rates than the Engin “Max” plan for calls made in excess of included calling allowances, gotalk also offers much more generous calling allowances.

The gotalk “goVoIP Aussie and World Pack” offers the following calling inclusions for just $24.90 per month when combined with a gotalk broadband plan or $29.90 if standalone.
Local / national calls : 600 calls (talk for up to 2 hours on each call!)
Calls to Aussie Mobiles : 100 calls to Aussie mobiles (or up to 500 minutes to Aussie mobiles, whichever is the lesser.
International Calls : 100 calls (or up to 3,000 minutes, whichever is the lesser) to the 36 countries listed at the end of this Press Release.

In addition to the great value identified above, the “goVoIP Aussie and World Pack” allows customers to call an additional 30 countries for up to 2 hours for just 20c per call, an additional 50 countries can be called for up to 2 hours for just 50c per call, while yet another 18 countries can be called for up to 2 hours for just 75c per call as part of the International Calls cap.

In contrast the Engin “Max” plan offers only 600 minutes of calls to “local, national, mobile and over 100 international destinations”, then additional call charges apply.

Overall, gotalk offers far better value for money to customers making lots of national and international calls, and is committed to continuing to provide outstanding value for money to its customers.
