South Australia Treasury's budget site crashes

2010-11 budget a must read in the state?

The South Australia Treasury has battled to keep its main website up and running over the past 24 hours following the release of the state’s controversial 2010-11 budget.

The site, which hosts the full documentation of the 2010-11 budget has variously failed to load, timed out, and otherwise crashed since early Thursday afternoon.

The site had been restored to partial service at about 12.30pm Sydney time today, however users were being informed that the site’s 8.7mb full budget paper would take some 2.75 hours to download.

Comment is being sought from the South Australian Treasury on the causes of the outage, but high demand for the documents among the state’s voters is not believed to be one.

A SA Treasury employee confirmed that the issues with the site were known to Treasury and its IT department was currently working on a fix.

The Budget, which contains a number of funding cuts was leaked on Tuesday.
