UTS inks agreement with Zend for PHP courses

University will offer two Zend-approved PHP short courses

University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) has partnered with Zend Technologies to offer two PHP training short courses.

The two courses — Zend PHP I: Foundations and Zend PHP II: Higher Structures — will be taught by UTS' Bernard Doyle and Chris Johnston.

Doyle said that popularity of PHP, which is used by a number of popular Web platforms such as Drupal and Wordpress, as well as by heavyweight Web companies including Facebook, means there is ongoing demand for qualified PHP developers

"The Zend Technologies courses prepare students for the various Zend certifications that are recognised as the standard in PHP certification," Doyle said.

"Zend also assists its certified developers with a free listing in its PHP Yellow Pages. The company regularly reviews its courses to ensure the curriculum incorporates the latest technologies."

The two courses both are run over three Saturdays.

A UTS spokesperson said that the university is looking to partner with Zend for further courses in the future.
