Brace yourself for the silly season — with a spate of triple A video game titles coming out in the lead up to Christmas, IT managers might need to prepare themselves for staff sick days.

Gears of War 3

Developers' desks empty? An empty wasteland of cubicles in the IT department? Gears of War 3 is an Xbox 360 exclusive that is available from today. Now you know where your sysadmin has gone.

Battlefield 3

The third instalment in the Battlefield empire is set to be launched on PC, for Xbox 360 and PlayStation on 27 October. This one might keep your IT team pulling all-nighters.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

Modern Warfare 3 launches on 8 November. Task Force 141 returns, with the game set just after the events of its predecessor.

Assassin's Creed: Revelations

The latest Assassin's Creed game will hit Windows, Xbox 360 and PlayStation on 15 November. Will it be the last we see of Ezio?

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Keep your fingers crossed that 11 November is free of IT disasters — because that’s the day the fifth chapter in the Elder Scrolls series launches on Windows, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360. Expect sudden outbreaks of Skyrimitis.

Batman: Arkham City

The sequel to the well-received Arkham Asylum, Batman: Arkham City is launching on 19 October in Australia. This time players get a chance to spend some time in the skintight leather getup of Catwoman, as well as donning the mantle of the caped crusader.

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception

Uncharted 3 will launch in Australia on 3 November. The PS3 exclusive received a glowing reception at E3 this year, so it's definitely one to watch.

Halo: Combat Evolved 10th anniversary edition

Microsoft is marking the 10th anniversary of Halo: Combat Evolved with the release of a remake for the Xbox 360. Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary is hitting Australian stores on 15 November.
