Virgin launches 13GB postpaid 4G broadband offering

4G services are available in Sydney, Newcastle, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth

Optus subsidiary Virgin Mobile has launched a 4G postpaid mobile broadband service on a $59, 12-month plan that includes 13GB of data.

Customers can either bring their own 4G device or buy a Huawei E5776 WiFi modem on a 12-month plan for $240.

Virgin Mobile’s 4G uses its parent company's network and is available in some areas in Sydney, Newcastle, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.

Outside those areas, customers will revert to Optus' 3G dual band network.

David Scribner, Virgin Mobile Australia marketing director, recently told Computerworld Australia that the company is focused on mobile services and the next generation of 4G.
