Acquia revenue up 108 per cent

Drupal services company reveals revenue leap for 2012

Acquia, the Boston-headquartered Drupal services company founded by the creator of the open-source Web platform, Dries Buytaert, has revealed year-on-year annual growth of 108 per cent for 2012.

The company also today revealed that Q1 2013 was up 52 per cent compared to the same period last year.

The company's head count has grown to more than 340 employees, Acquia said, including a local presence in Australia comprising sales and technical support staff.

The next major Drupal release – Drupal 8 – is due at the end of the year or "whenever it's ready". The release includes significant changes for content creators and site managers, as well as a major behind-the-scenes re-architecture.

The changes in Drupal 8 will help the platform compete with the giants of the Web experience management world, such as Adobe, according to Buytaert.
