LG has released four new smartphones under the L Series II brand, it announced today.
The new devices are slight specification upgrades to existing L Series phones, rather than completely new models.
The range consists of the L3 II, L5 II, L7 II, and the L7 II Dual SIM handsets.
LG Australia's head of mobiles, Jonathan Banks, said the results of the original L Series range in Australia had been "outstanding".
"Australia is the only market globally where LG released all five original models in the range and the results have been outstanding for the local business as it sets a firm base of consumer support ahead of more expansive moves into other market segments in 2013," he said.
"LG is confident the momentum will continue with the refreshed line-up of devices, the L SeriesII – and the response from our local operator and retail partners has been very encouraging ahead of the new, upgraded device launches."
The new L-Style II phones start with the entry-level Optimus L3 II, which retails for $99 exclusively through Telstra.
The Optimus L3 II has a 3.2in screen with a resolution of 240x320, as well as a 3-megapixel rear facing camera that records video.
The Optimus L5 II has a larger 4in screen with a 480x800 resolution and includes a 5-megapixel camera. It will retail for $179 through Boost Mobile and will be available sometime in July.
The Optimus L7 II gets a 4.3in screen with the same resolution as the L5 II. It also has an 8-megapixel camera and includes a front-facing camera for video calls.
It will sell for $229 through Optus and will be available this month.
LG will also release a dual-SIM version of the Optimus L7 II in July for $249 unlocked.
All four new L Series smartphones will run Google's 4.1 "Jelly Bean" Android operating system and come skinned with LG's UI overlay.
LG has confirmed it sold more than 10 million original L Series phones globally in the first 10 months of release, but has refused to confirm exact sales numbers for Australia.
The company claims to be ranked third for Australian Android marketshare, and second in the Australian market for prepaid smartphones.
