Visa has announced that its digital wallet, V.me, is now live in Australia across several major merchants.
The V.me digital wallet, which launched last year in the United States, lets customers pay online merchants with any debit or credit card. It can be accessed on any PC, smartphone or tablet.
When buying from a website, the consumer logs into V.me, then selects the card they want to use and shipping information that they have saved in the digital wallet. The wallet can hold more cards than just Visa, including MasterCard and American Express, can be used for international purchases, and is supported by every financial institution in Australia, according to Visa.
The following online merchants are now accepting payments through V.me:
- Flight Centre
- JB Hi-Fi
- Cotton On
- Lorna Jane
- Escape Travel
- City Beach
Visa said it expects to add more merchants next year.
Flight Centre's executive general manager of digital and omni-channel, Sean Sutherland, said he sees V.me as a way to simplify payments for customers.
“It’s important for us to provide a seamless experience across all channels so our customers can interact with us in any way they choose,” Sutherland said in a statement.
“Offering our customers an easy way to pay online with V.me online is integral to that strategy, particularly during this busy summer holiday season.”
