DesignCrowd buys US startup Worth1000

Deal adds 600,000 graphic designers to DesignCrowd platform

Sydney startup DesignCrowd has acquired New York-based creative content platform Worth1000.

DesignCrowd is an online outsourcing platform with more than $6 million in venture capital funding that aims to connect businesses with graphic designers around the world. Worth1000 is a website with headquarters in New York City that operates global image competitions.

The acquisition will add Worth1000’s 600,000 global user base of graphic designers, writers, photographers and illustrators to the DesignCrowd platform.

DesignCrowd said it has already begun migrating users from Worth1000. The companies did not disclose the terms of the deal.

“Worth1000 is home to thousands of businesses and some of the world’s best graphic designers,” said Chris McNamara, COO of DesignCrowd.

“A growing number of businesses around the world are looking to online crowdsourcing communities to get work done, and we’re working hard to support this demand globally.”
