Clipp adds 300 pubs to tab with ALH Group deal

Startup now has 600 bars supporting mobile app

Mobile bar tab startup Clipp has doubled its number of pubs after signing an agreement with the Australian Leisure & Hospitality (ALH) Group.

Following the deal, which includes about 300 pubs across Australia, the Sydney-based startup’s mobile payments app is supported by about 600 pubs.

Using the Clipp app, available for Android and iOS devices, customers can open and pay for a bar tab on a smartphone. Bars can accept payment via Clipp using existing point-of-sale software.

“From a business perspective, having our venues integrated with Clipp has already improved productivity in our venues,” said ALH Group CEO Bruce Mathieson.

“Staff behind the bar are spending less time handling card transactions and instead are able to serve customers faster and more efficiently.

Clipp co-founder Greg Taylor called the deal with ALH Group a big win for the startup.

“Having the ALH Group on board shows that more pubs and bars all over Australia are becoming aware of just how much easier we’re making it for them to accept payments through a smartphone,” he said.
